About Us

All Angels Episcopal Day School believes that every child deserves high quality early childhood education.  We are a five star, FOCUS verified program.  AAEDS is a child-centered, developmentally appropriate, inclusive play based program.  We are a small school that only runs four classrooms.  We feel that children learn best when the environment is not overwhelming, arranged with purpose and teacher to student ratios are kept low.

Mission

As an outreach ministry of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, All Angels is dedicated to helping children develop faith based on knowledge of God’s love, awareness of the wonder of God’s creation, respect for all persons, and understanding of various beliefs.  We provide high quality, developmentally appropriate education for young children of the community, including the parish, by addressing their spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs.  All Angels admits children ages two through five years regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, gender or religion.

All Angels was founded in 1988.  It was established as and continues to be an outreach ministry of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.  It was established as and continues to be a non-profit.  Being a non-profit, all money after expenses goes back into the school to improve facilities, continuing education for teachers, and to provide supplementary activities for the students.

Philosophy

All Angels Episcopal Day School believes that every child is a gift from God. Each child is born with unique and amazing abilities. We feel that these gifts are best celebrated and nurtured in a mutually respectful environment that focuses on the importance of relationships between  teachers, families and children in a play-based environment that fosters self-reflection and growth in all areas of development. We work with each child at their personal level and, with parental input, set achievable goals.  We use Ages and Stages Questionnaire with parental approval to drive curriculum.

AAEDS is committed to furthering high-quality, inclusive early childhood programs that should be available to ALL children and families. AAEDS is committed to being an advocate for inclusion of children and families of all abilities and being accountable to them. We provide resource lists for families that are in need of additional help and work with professionals in the community to support the child as needed.

We are committed to Continuous Quality Improvement at all levels of the school. We ask for input from families by asking for input during family surveys. Parents also serve on the board of directors. Our staff receives high-quality, annual training to ensure the best educational experience for your child.

AAEDS believes that each child and family has unique experiences that need to be valued.  We offer families the opportunities to share their cultures, beliefs, talents and experiences with their individual classrooms or the entire school. We try to accommodate any special requests from families including children with cultural needs, special needs or children with disabilities.

All Angels believes that both what and how children learn in their early years is critical to their development. The children are offered opportunities to grow and develop in all areas–spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and cognitive – through play and teacher-facilitated, hands-on learning. The teachers arrange a safe and nurturing environment filled with resources and experiences that encourage new skills while enhancing those already achieved. Classrooms are arranged in centers, such as Blocks, Dramatic Play, Science, Writing, Open Art, Reading, and Manipulatives. Materials in these centers are rotated often. Planned activities and theme-based units of study directed by the teachers further enhance and expand the children’s day.

Holistic Approach

All Angels believes that both what and how children learn in their early years is critical to their development.  The children are offered opportunities to grow and develop in all areas – spiritual, emotional, social, physical, and cognitive – through play-based and teacher facilitated hands-on learning.  The teachers arrange a safe and nurturing environment filled with resources and plan learning experiences that encourage new skills while enhancing those already achieved.

Episcopal Identity

As an Episcopal School, we are grounded in Christian tradition but intentionally open to people of all beliefs. We are committed to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for all people. We do not discriminate in admissions or hiring on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

Chapel is a formative part of our life as a school. Because we also participate in the New Mexico pre-K programs, we ensure that chapel happens outside of official state-funded instructional time. Parents and caregivers are always welcome to join in the chapel program. Reach out to Mandy, our chaplain, for more information.

Our faith is bigger than chapel. We also live our Episcopal Identity as we practice social justice, and explore ways in which our students and community can make a difference in Albuquerque and in our wider world.
